My website is now officially monetizable, and a new professional phase begins.

He May 2, 2025, coinciding with the Community of Madrid Day, I received one of the most anticipated emails since I launched this project:

Google AdSense hat den Monetarisierungsantrag für meinen persönlichen Blog genehmigt: javiercachon.com.

Although it may seem like just one more step, it means a lot to me. It represents the Google recognition to an independent project, dedicated to technological dissemination, especially focused on GNU/Linux, free software, open source and the accessible digital education for all.

A path with effort: 3 attempts, 70 articles and many hours of work

It wasn't easy to get here. I made it. on the third attempt. In the first two, Google AdSense rejected me for a clear reason: "insufficient or low-value content"«.

That answer, although frustrating at the time, gave me a valuable clue. It wasn't enough to have good intentions, or even to know a lot about Linux or free software. Demonstrate this by writing useful, original, and well-structured technical articles, which will really add value to visitors.

I took it seriously. I redoubled my efforts, dedicated more time to writing, testing, installations, tool analysis, configurations, and most of all, document everything he did in detailI didn't limit myself to copying or translating other people's content, unless it was news that I translated into Spanish and cited its official source: everything I published was created from scratch, with my own words, my experience, and my personal approach.

On the day of approval, it already had 70 articles published, the result of months of constant dedication. A figure that not only met Google's requirements, but also consolidated javiercachon.com as a solid source of technical knowledge within the Linux and free software ecosystem.

An initial alternative: Adsterra, the first step in monetization

While working to get Google's approval, I decided to explore other platforms. That's how I came to Adsterra, an advertising network that allows you to monetize newly created blogs without many prerequisites.

Although Adsterra was helpful at first, and I appreciate the opportunity it offers to small projects, the reality is that their income is much more limitedThe real monetization potential, and above all, the prestige, lies in platforms like Google AdSense.

What exactly is Google AdSense?

Google AdSense is a monetization platform for web content creators. It allows you to insert ads on your page and earn money every time users interact with them. It's the most well-known and respected advertising platform worldwide for its quality, stability, and transparency.

Monetizing with AdSense doesn't just mean revenue, it also means:

  • Greater visibility in search engines.
  • Validation of your content as useful and original.
  • Access to more detailed statistics on web traffic.
  • Partnership with one of the most influential technology companies on the planet.

How does Google AdSense pay?

AdSense income can come in two main ways:

  • CPM (Cost per thousand impressions)A fee is paid each time your ads are shown to a thousand visitors. Even if they don't click on them, the mere fact of showing ads generates revenue.
  • CPC (Cost per click)When a visitor clicks on an ad, you receive a commission. The value of each click depends on the industry, the advertiser's competition, and the visitor's country.

He technology and education sector It usually has a higher CPM and CPC than other niches, which makes a site like mine, focused on GNU/Linux, open source and free software, have good long-term potential.

Google AdSense Rules and Requirements

Google AdSense doesn't accept just any website. It requires creators to meet a series of basic but very strict requirements:

  • Original, useful and well-written content.
  • Have visible legal pages: legal notice, privacy policy, contact.
  • Clear navigation, no errors or broken links.
  • Clean, mobile-friendly design.
  • Copying content from other sites is prohibited.
  • It is prohibited to encourage people to click on ads.

In addition, aspects such as posting frequency, user engagement (comments, interactions), and the length of time the site has been running are assessed.

Thanks to my constant work, compliance with these standards was possible. Every technical article, every written line, and every documented audit brought me closer to my goal..

Next challenge: monetizing my YouTube channel

Now that javiercachon.com is monetized, my next goal is to do the same with my YouTube channel: @javicachon.

Monetizing YouTube is more complicated, as it requires:

  • 1,000 subscribers.
  • 4,000 hours of viewing in the last year.
  • Original and quality videos.
  • Compliance with all community rules.

Creating video content requires not only technical knowledge, but also communication, editing, scriptwriting, expression, and audience connection skills. I'm working on improving all of these aspects so the channel can grow in the same spirit as the blog: Share knowledge about free software, Linux, and technology accessible to everyone.

Professional recognition: I no longer work for free

Acceptance in Google AdSense marks the transition from a personal blog to a professional projectI no longer write solely out of passion (although it remains intact); I now also receive financial recognition for the value I contribute. I no longer work for free.

This doesn't mean I'm changing my philosophy. All content will remain accessible and free for visitors. But now, thanks to ads and the support of my readers, I can continue creating. with more motivation and sustainability.

Every visit, every click, every recommendation… Support the project and help it continue to grow.

Thanks: to Google, to the readers and to myself

I want to close this article with a sincere thank you:

  • Thanks to Google, for valuing my effort and giving me this opportunity.
  • Thanks to you, reader, visitor, user, curious or Linux enthusiast, who has trusted me.
  • And thanks to myself, for not giving up, for writing non-stop, for continuing to learn, and for having a clear vision that Free knowledge must be available to everyone.

This has only just begun. With this approval, javiercachon.com level up, is better positioned, and gains authority in the open source world.

See you soon… And thanks for being part of this journey!
